Egemen Kemal Vurusan's "Cage" is a testament to the transformative power of design. The lighting is produced using hot glass blowing and metal forming techniques, resulting in amorphous and blown shaped units that refract light at varying rates. The realization of "Cage" involved the use of traditional mesh systems to produce metals symbolizing cages. Among the different shapes and sizes of cages used, one is a 'pinter,' a fishing cage specially produced by Mediterranean fishermen for the series. The glasses within the cage were crafted by the designer using the hot glass blowing technique, resulting in an impressive visual display.

"Cage" is not just a lighting fixture; it's an interactive design that changes the ambiance of its environment. The shadows cast by the light take interior design to a new dimension, showcasing the artistic touch of the Cage series in the lighting industry and its potential for collaborations in the architectural field.

The design process for "Cage" started in 2015, at the end of Vurusan's undergraduate education. The first prototype was produced in Istanbul and made its debut at the "Design Week Turkey" organization in 2018. The design's unique properties and innovative approach to lighting earned it the Golden A' Lighting Products and Fixtures Design Award in 2021.

Overcoming challenges in shape and sustainability, the Cage lighting series is a testament to Vurusan's commitment to pushing the boundaries of design. From filling the cage completely with glass to evenly placing five bulbs, each element of the design process was meticulously executed, resulting in a product that is as much a work of art as it is a functional lighting fixture.
